Bikutsi Water Blues (Water of Misery)

15,00

BIKUTSI: a traditional rhythm from the forests of southern Cameroon.
A blend of documentary and fiction addressing a current issue in Cameroon: CONTAMINATED WATER AND HEALTH.
Moïse (13), a high school student, lives in a working-class neighborhood. In his class, his teacher regularly invites professionals to talk about work. To discuss water, they welcome a radio host, a sanitation technician, and a guitarist all at once. ZANZIBAR, the guitarist of the band “Les Têtes Brûlées,” whose ambition is to make Bikutsi known throughout the world.

Through their music, Moïse and his bandmates share the lives of residents in working-class neighborhoods and of farmers in various regions of the country as they struggle daily to find sustainable solutions to the water problem—a problem that, according to doctors, is responsible for two out of every three diseases in this part of the world where there is no shortage of water.
